Praxis Cervejeira Restaurant / Beer Heritage

Praxis is a brewery-restaurant and microbrewery in Coimbra. It combines artisan beer production (you can even see part of the brewing process) with a menu of classic “cervejaria” dishes, steaks, francesinha, seafood, and assorted petiscos. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with a spacious terrace overlooking the city.

It’s an excellent choice both for beer lovers and for anyone wanting to enjoy traditional Portuguese brewing paired with a hearty meal.

Directions from Convento de São Francisco

1. From the Convent, walk to the roundabout in front, where the Portugal dos Pequenitos park is located.

2. At the roundabout, take Rua António Augusto Gonçalves.

3. Continue straight for about 600 m (7–8 minutes).

4. Enter Urbanização Quinta da Várzea.

5. Praxis will be on your left-hand side, clearly signposted.

It’s less than 10 minutes on foot from the Convento de São Francisco!

Directions from Coimbra City Center

From the University or Old Town area, head down to the river.

1. Cross the Mondego via Ponte de Santa Clara.

2. Continue along Rua António Augusto Gonçalves.

3. Follow signs to Urbanização Quinta da Várzea.

4. Praxis is at lote 28-29.
